Judo

Judo for Beginners
This introductory Judo class is designed for students who wish to learn Judo techniques, including throwing, groundwork, joint locks, and other self-defense techniques. Students will also practice physical fitness training and mental discipline, and learn martial arts philosophy and culture. These classes will help students build physical and mental strength, find balance in life, and improve coordination, balance, endurance, agility, flexibility, self-confidence, self-discipline, concentration, and overall fitness. Moreover, the class will guide students through self-defense skills and coping strategies. It’s a great method of stress release for a busy lifestyle.

Karate
Karate, the Japanese art of self-defense, focuses on kicking, punching, blocking, and other combative techniques. Board breaking is practiced as a demonstration of mental discipline and good technique. Of ancient origin, Karate is practiced throughout the world in many different styles. At Cal, all styles of Karate are incorporated into one general class.

Wushu means “martial arts” and, in ancient times, was used primarily as a form of combat in China. Now it is a contemporary art form that is aesthetically pleasing, visually exciting, and physically demanding. It is a challenging fusion of Chinese martial arts and performance.

Self-Defense Yongmudo for Beginners
This class is designed for students who wish to learn the basics of self-defense, including kicking, striking, falling, throwing, and joint lock techniques. Students will also practice general physical fitness training and mental discipline, and learn martial arts philosophy and culture. This class will improve students’ coordination, balance, endurance, agility, flexibility, and overall fitness through the practice of Yongmudo, a Korean martial art designed for self-defense. With a focus on a subset of the core topics, a dedicated instructor will address the needs of beginning students.

Self-Defense Yongmudo
Yongmudo is a Korean self-defense oriented discipline that makes use of wrist twisting, joint locks, kicks, punches, holds, rolls, and fall through techniques that are modern, open, and dynamic.
