Berkeley Youth Recreation offers Parent/Infant (6 months – 3 years) and Tiny Tot (ages 3 – 5) classes that cater to young children of all swim levels.
Parent/Infant
For children of 6 months to 3 years of age, this class requires a parent to accompany their child in the water. Emphasis is on water adjustment, pool exploration, and introduction to swimming and safety skills. Restrictions: An adult must accompany the child in the water.
Location: Strawberry Canyon Recreation Area
Fall 2026 UPDATE – Strawberry Canyon Recreational Area – Ongoing softball field construction between the Witter Rugby Field and the SCRA entrance has eliminated the Witter Lot parking area and affected walking access. Please allow extra time, park in nearby campus lots, or carpool when possible.
If using the Maxwell lot please allow extra time (recommended at least 15 minutes) to reach Strawberry Canyon on foot. Google maps link with walking path from the Maxwell Field Parking Structure to the SCRA pool.

Classes are designed to cater to all swim levels in the age group of 3-5 years. Swimmers are grouped depending on their skill and experience. Restrictions: Parents do not accompany the child in the water with this class.
