About The Program
This volunteer CIT program serves as the entry rung of the ladder leading to becoming a paid camp staff member. The goal of the program is to develop leadership skills that can be applied to all aspects of life and utilized in any future career. The CIT is considered a volunteer staff member, attends pre-camp training and is assigned a schedule and volunteer duties with the camp he or she is placed. Most applicants will work with Explorer or Blue Camps, but there are also limited positions with the Skateboard Camp and Science & Sports Camp. CITs must be 15 years old.
Compensation: Volunteer
Location: Golden Bear Rec Center (Blue Camp) and Strawberry Canyon Rec Area (Explorer and Science & Sports Camp). There are also limited position with the Skateboard Camp at GBRC and Adventures Camps at the Berkeley Marina.
How to apply: Candidates email the supervisor of the camp they would like to volunteer with, including a resume and a Letter of Interest explaining why they are interested in volunteering with children at UC Berkeley Youth Recreation.
