2024 Swim Level chart
Aquatics Youth Swim Lessons are organized based on the skill level of each individual swimmer. Please read through the chart below to ensure you are selecting the appropriate Swim Lesson program for your children.
Parent/Infant – Children 6 months – 3 years old. This class requires a parent to accompany their child in the water. Emphasis is on water adjustment, pool exploration, and introduction to swimming and safety skills. Restrictions: An adult must accompany the child in the water. |
Tiny Tots – Tots are introduced to beginning swimming and aquatic skills. Classes are designed to cater to all swim levels in the age group of 3-5 years. Swimmers are grouped depending on their skill and experience. Restrictions: Parents do not accompany the child in the water with this class. |
Learn-to-Swim – Level 1: Child is able to enter & exit water independently, float on front & back, blow bubbles, flutter kick on front & back, and submerge. Exit Skills include: bobbing with rhythmic breathing, hold breath and blow bubbles underwater, push off wall in front glide position and begin alternating arm motions on front & back. |
Learn-to-Swim – Level 2: Child is able to perform rhythmic breathing, floating, gliding, flutter kicking, and alternating arm cycles on front & back. Exit Skills include: Streamline glide on front & back, kicking on front & back, tread water w/bicycle kick, side breathing, alternating arms on front & back. |
Learn-to-Swim – Level 3: Child is able to streamline glide on front & back, flutter kick on front & back, tread water w/bicycle kick, and is able to perform alternating arm cycles on front & back. Exit Skills include: kneeling dive, streamline, catch-up freestyle with side breathing, double arm backstroke, scissor kick, and body dolphin motion. |
Learn-to-Swim – Level 4: Child is able to perform a kneeling dive, streamline, alternating side breathing in catch-up freestyle, double arm backstroke, scissor kick, and body dolphin. Exit Skills include: Stride dive, Freestyle 25 yards, backstroke, breaststroke kick & rhythm, dolphin kick, and tread water with a whip kick. |
Learn-to-Swim – Level 5: Child is able to swim freestyle & backstroke, stride dive, tread water with a whip kick, breaststroke kick rhythm and dolphin kick. Exit Skills include: shallow dive, breaststroke pull, butterfly pull, freestyle & backstroke open turn, and tread water with egg beater. |
Learn-to-Swim – Level 6: Child is able to shallow dive, breaststroke pull, butterfly pull, freestyle & backstroke open turn, and tread water with egg beater. Exit Skills include: Racing dive, backstroke start, perform all 4 strokes proficiently, and flip turns. |
